Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas One of 44 Organizations Receiving Grant

Fresh ProduceJonesboro, June 23, 2021:  The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas was awarded a $7,300 grant by the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation to fund a fresh produce mobile pantry distribution in Craighead County.

This initiative will provide thousands of pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables to struggling families.  Living in an agricultural state, many of us take for granted the access we have to fresh produce, but many of our neighbors can’t always afford to choose healthy fruits and vegetables as part of their regular diet.

“The food needs in our communities continue to be critical,” said Christie Jordan, CEO for the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas.  “We are proud to work with the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation to provide healthy fresh fruits and vegetables to the communities we serve.”

“After a tumultuous year last year, it is evident this organization is the heartbeat of its community,” Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation Executive Director Julie Waitman states. “We are honored to partner with organizations like this fighting food insecurity head on.”

During the 2020-2021 fiscal year (June 1, 2020-May 31, 2021), the Foundation awarded $250,000 to 44 organizations across the U.S. fighting hunger in their communities. This grant marks the one millionth dollar awarded by the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation in its efforts to help fight hunger.
